On September 24, 2025, Highway 1 at Tank Hill opened two lanes of traffic on the newly constructed overpass, marking a significant milestone in the project to restore grade separation between the highway and the CPKC Railway. Located 14 kms east of Lytton, B.C., the previous railway bridge was significantly damaged because of the 2021 atmospheric river.

The highway has initially opened to two lanes, with the third lane scheduled to open in October 2025 once the detour removal is completed. While all major construction activities are complete, detour-removal and site-cleanup will continue until November 2025. Upgrades included a new elevated bridge deck, restored grade separation, improved drainage and other enhancements to safety and durability.

Elevation Technical Services is proud to contribute to the Tank Hill Alliance, a collaborative partnership that includes the Ministry of Transportation and Transit, Western Highways Infrastructure, McElhanney Engineering Services Ltd, and Associated Engineering Ltd. “The Alliance partners share one contract with unified goals and make decisions based on what’s best for the project,” said Lukas Bennetto, Project Manager at Elevation. Elevation plays a project management role on-site, overseeing a wide range of responsibilities. “We’re involved in most aspects of the project, with a focus on quality and schedule review, civil construction, Indigenous relations, environmental considerations, and daily operations,” Bennetto added.
