We sat down with Mike Unger, Team Lead of Bridge Engineering Services, to discuss the recent growth of Elevation’s Bridge and Structural Engineering Team.
Over the past month, Elevation has added two highly qualified bridge engineers to the roster. “These hires add significant capability to our growing team,” said Unger. “They will increase our internal capacity and add great experience to our roster.” The newest team members are Murray Johnson, Senior Bridge Engineer, Frances Wee, Intermediate Bridge Engineer, and Craig Mankey, Bridge Design Technologist.
The Bridge Engineering Services group specializes in engineering and advisory services with a focus on transportation infrastructure for both public and private owners throughout British Columbia. Over the past 16 months, the Bridge team has expanded to include a diverse and well-balanced group of experienced professional engineers, technicians, and Engineers-in-Training.
With this strong team in place, Elevation provides comprehensive advisory and engineering services to clients, including the Ministry of Transportation and Transit (MoTT), municipalities and other organizations. Elevation offers full engineering support from conceptual and detailed design through project tender and construction phases, with the structural team’s portfolio encompassing bridges, retaining walls, large culverts and tunnels.
“We offer our clients comprehensive solutions for these projects,” said Unger. His team has designed new bridges and culverts, developed plans for the rehabilitation and replacement of existing structures, and assisted transportation infrastructure clients with the management and maintenance of their structural inventories. “In many cases, these bridges have reached the end of their service life and require either replacement or rehabilitation,” he explained. “We develop strategies to extend the service life of the asset to help provide the best value to the client when considering the structure’s current condition.”
Elevation’s team is well-equipped with the experience, skills, and qualifications to offer a full suite of structural engineering services. These include:
“By fully understanding our clients’ challenges throughout the life cycle of their infrastructure and working closely with our internal bridge construction, inspection, and maintenance teams - as well as our industry partners - we take a ‘total service’ approach to ensure the long-term success of our clients’ projects,” said Unger.
“What sets Elevation apart is the quality of work we deliver,” Unger continued. “Our team brings many years of experience and a deep understanding of what high-quality work looks like, giving us a competitive advantage that we bring to our clients.”
