Salary Range/Wage Rate: Advisor: $78,000 to $98,000; Senior Advisor: $100,000-$135,000  

Salary will be determined by a combination of skills, experience and knowledge.

Position Overview:
Our Indigenous and community relation relations team at Elevation Technical Services is growing! We are seeking an Indigenous and Community Relations Advisor / Senior Advisor for projects across the province.  

We are seeking an experienced and collaborative engagement professional who has knowledge and experience in leading project engagement efforts with communities across BC. This individual has the proven skills, competencies and capacity to lead engagement initiatives and be accountable for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships so that we can deliver results for our clients.
 
You will work closely with project teams to help build and execute on engagement plans that resonate with diverse audiences and support the successful delivery of projects.

In this role, your ability to foster connections and navigate challenging conversations will be essential as you build trust and engage with Indigenous communities in the transportation, civil, and infrastructure sectors. Your contributions will be key in helping Elevation maintain its reputation for transparency, integrity, and commitment to delivering high-quality results.

Your Role at Elevation Technical Services:

  • Indigenous Engagement: Develop and implement engagement strategies tailored to the unique needs and requirements of Indigenous communities across BC. Facilitate engagement efforts, including meetings, presentations, and community events, that support transparency and foster collaborative relationships with Indigenous communities in support of our client’s projects.
  • Community relations: Develop and implement engagement strategies that align with public participation and engagement best practices. Your role would include information sharing and facilitating project updates, in addition to facilitating feedback on project planning and design.  
  • Content Development: Create engaging communication materials for Indigenous engagement, project updates, and key meetings. You will work with both internal teams and external partners to ensure all materials are produced efficiently and on budget.
  • Project Management: Oversee the execution of engagement plans, ensuring alignment with project timelines and budgets while maintaining high standards of quality and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Strategic Advice: Provide Indigenous relations guidance to senior leadership, ensuring alignment with project objectives, values, and the broader mission of Elevation Technical Services.
  • Reporting and Evaluation: Prepare reports to document engagement outcomes, project impacts, and recommendations for future improvements. You will also evaluate the success of engagement initiatives to guide continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

Education:  

  • Relevant post-secondary education is required, a university bachelor’s degree or higher is preferred.  
  • Suggested relevant education may include, Indigenous studies, environment, archaeology, anthropology, law, community planning, communications, public relations, business, or a related field.  
  • Preferred: International Association of Public Participation (IAP2) Certification

Experience:  

  • Demonstrated engagement or communications experience within the natural resource, infrastructure or construction sectors.  
  • A minimum equivalent of three years full-time experience is required.
  • Preferred: Experience with writing proposals, regulatory report writing, annual reports.

For those without a bachelor's degree or higher, a combination of education and experience will be considered. A combination of at least seven years of combined related education and experience is required.

Knowledge:  

  • In-depth understanding of Indigenous relations and engagement techniques.  
  • Demonstrated understanding of federal and provincial requirements for consultation and engagement.  
  • Understanding of engagement within the context of large infrastructure projects.  
  • Knowledge of Indigenous communities within BC.  

Skills:

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and build effective working relationships with Indigenous community leadership, staff, and membership.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate technical information into accessible plain language formats.  
  • Strong organizational abilities and the capacity to manage multiple projects while ensuring timely delivery.
  • Experience with developing and managing communications plans for diverse and complex audiences, particularly in the public sector or large-scale infrastructure projects.

Preference may also be given to someone who has the following:

  • Familiarity with transportation, infrastructure or construction projects
  • Lived experience as an Indigenous person
  • Physically based in the lower mainland or southern interior
